Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine: An Upcycling Workshop

Before you toss your trash, what if you could turn it into treasure? OFW is honoured to partner with recycled art sculptor and muralist Lai Wan to bring you this hands-on, heart-driven workshop—an invitation to see beauty in what others consider as trash and transform everyday waste into meaningful, creative expression.

For years, Lai Wan has worked with recycled materials—fabric scraps, metal bits, paper waste—turning what would otherwise be thrown away into installations that reflect the spirit of sustainability and the glory of God’s creation. In her own words, " I see beauty in the overlooked, and I hope to inspire you to do the same with the materials around you."

Join us for a hands-on workshop where we’ll:

• Explore the spiritual and practical importance of sustainability
• Learn creative techniques to upcycle discarded materials into art
• Reflect on our role as stewards of creation

This session is perfect for anyone interested in art, faith, and caring for the environment. Not only will you hear first hand sharings of stories behind Lai Wan's church-based installations; she will also guide you in creating your own unique piece!

All recycled materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own clean recyclables!

About the Creation Care Conference 2025

The Creation Care Conference 2025 is OFW's flagship two-day event to mark the start of the Season of Creation and catalyse learning, fellowship and collaboration on creation care.

The theme for the Creation Care Conference 2025 is "On Earth as it is in Heaven". At its heart, the Conference seeks to convey that creation care is part of Christ’s (and therefore, our) broader mission of restoring relationships: between humanity and God, among people, and between us and the rest of creation. By looking to Jesus, the One who brings renewal, CCC25 is a prayer and call for more of heaven to transform more of earth, and more of us.
