About the Event

This workshop will be held at MakeIT at Woodlands (Level 3 within Woodlands Regional Library).

About the Programme

Develop your coding skills in this hands-on workshop utilising our robots available in MakeIT at libraries. mBot is a wheeled robotics kit that works with mBlock, a block-based programming language that provides a great entry point for those interested in coding and robotics, but are not sure where to begin.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to do the following:

  • Program a robot to drive in different directions using your own written programs
  • Learn how to code using mBlock, a block-based programming language that makes coding more accessible to users
  • Use robotic sensors to sense the environment and make decisions based on what is sensed
  • Understand how algorithms work and write a simple line-following algorithm

These skills form the foundation of robotics, and might be of interest if you are interested in programming but are intimidated by looking at screens, enjoy tinkering with physical things, or like to see results from a project in a short amount of time.

No programming knowledge is needed to participate, and we’ll also supply laptops for you to use.

The age requirement for participants is 15+.
