[SAGECC Virtual Workshop] Country/Rural Sketching

Rural/Country Drawing and Sketching is an interactive art session that includes step-by-step demonstrations, with students being able to follow through the steps and receive tips and guidance at each step.

By following the detailed demonstration and explanations of the instructor(s), students will be able to complete one artwork per session.

Objective:

1. Participants will gain a better understanding and appreciation the art of drawing for country / rural landscapes
2. Further deepening and developing their skills in drawing and sketching through the live art demonstration and practice over the 4 sessions, the last 2 sessions will include learning to add watercolour washes onto their works to enhance the texture and look of the piece.

Over the 4 sessions, the content will include:

• Techniques to express form, perspective, texture and lighting of subjects such as rivers, lakes, bushes, trees, architecture, traditional houses, scenes and shrubs.
• Landscape sketching, architectural sketching with pen/ink and with a range of pencils.
• Learn to apply correct tonal value to the object based on its surroundings.
• Learn observational skills through observing photographs and references used.
• Learn to express this scenic country landscapes with pencil drawing and ball point / gel pen, pen liner.
• Learn one and two point perspective.
• Learn to apply watercolour paint washes.
• Finally, over four sessions of practise in drawing and sketching with pencils and with pens (ballpoint/pen liner), achieve a deeper understanding and familiarity in strokes and techniques in landscape drawing and sketching at an intermediate level.

The workshop will be conducted via Zoom.

Jan: 5, 12, 19, 26 (Wednesdays)

This workshop is a virtual workshop organised by SAGE Counselling Centre. Please note:

• Priority will be given to new participants who have not attended SAGECC's workshops before.
• This workshop is open to seniors aged 50 years and above, as well as family members and caregivers who are residing in Singapore.
• Participants who have joined our workshops before may join the waiting list. We will contact you if there are place available. Your place will only be confirmed when when payment is successful.
• The deadline for registration is 12pm, 17 December 2021 (Friday).
• There will be a $20 administrative and processing fee charged for this workshop. Payment details will be sent to you when you have successfully signed up.
• All materials are included in the fee. It can be picked up from SAGE Counselling Centre when ready.
