At this first-ever exclusive sake showcase, you’ll get to taste the most obscure sake labels and engage in in-depth conversations with Singapore’s sake connoisseurs and aficionados. If you can tell your nigoris and murokas apart, you’ll fit right in.Day 1 of Sake Social will focus on aged and new sake. While new sake typically refers to sake brewed with rice harvested in the same year, aged sake or koshu can refer to sake that is aged for 3 years or more and even carry a lustreless brown colour.Day 2 will introduce raw and unfiltered sake, defined as sake that have skipped pasteurisation or filtration respectively. While nigori or cloudy sake (coarsely filtered sake) is available in small volumes in Singapore, the rustic doburoku — which is completely unfiltered and requires specialised licences to brew in Japan — is less common and expected to surprise palates at Sake Social. With close to 100 labels of sake in categories such as "Aged Sake: Koshu vs Jukusei" on Day 1 and “Natural Sakes" and "Namazakes" on Day 2, attendees can expect to journey with sake sommeliers who will enhance their discovery by sharing their deep expertise. S﻿ake sommeliers you can expect to see:<ul><li>Mr Elliot Faber, the author of The History, Stories and Craft of Japan's Artisanal Breweries and Sake Samurai.</li><li>Mr Adrian Goh, Director of Inter Rice Asia, who is passionate about Japanese breweries employing centuries-old traditional brewing techniques to produce some of today’s best sake on the market.</li><li>Ms Olivia Chey and Mr Cedric Tan, sake and shochu sommeliers from Kurara who have unique expertise in the fields of aged and warm sake.</li><li>Mr Julian Goh, founder of Saketen, experienced in the field of natural sakes.</li><li>M﻿r Rick Choo, founder of The Guild Collective (Bespoke Fine Liquor Company) and a partner of Origins Foodist (Fine Sake and Food Company), and an International Kikisake-shi (Certified sake sommelier).</li><li>M﻿r Mario Choy, a creative driver of Shukuu Izakaya and Mirai Sake Hall, the core of his Sake journey involves the pairing of food and Sake.</li><li>M﻿s Jessica Sue, co-founder of Woodstock Beverages, which specialises in artisanal spirits and Japanese sake, they focus on import and export of beverages in South East Asia, including Japanese breweries.</li><li>M﻿r Hansel Tan, a Certified Sake Sommelier (SSA), his knowledge is full of quirky details and interesting experiences.
