Embark on an inspiring journey with French artist Prune Nourry as she explores the human body and confronts her own battle with breast cancer.

Witness how Prune transforms her medical ordeal into a powerful artistic expression, finding new purpose and meaning in her work through her journey to survival.

After the screening, join us for a thought-provoking discussionwith director and artist Prune Nourry, alongside researchers from NUS and Universite Paris Cité. Delve deeper into the intersection of art, medicine, and survival, and discover the profound connections between Prune's personal story and her artistic vision. This event promises to be a captivating exploration of the human spirit and its resilience in the face of adversity.

The screening will be followed by a complimentary French cocktail.


This event is organised by GloWNUS, Université Paris Cité and NUS College, in partnership with the French Chamber of Commerce in Singapore and supported by the French Embassy in Singapore and ELLE Singapore.


Terms: Admission is free and the event is open to all. The screening and subsequent cocktail will be hosted in NUS University Town (uTown), in the Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium, Education Resource Centre, Singapore.

Who are our speakers?

Dr Joline Lim is a consultant and clinician scientist at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore. Her primary clinical and research interests are in breast oncology and early phase clinical trials, with a special focus on the development of novel anti-cancer therapeutic agents and biomarkers that can benefit patient's outcomes. Besides novel therapeutics, she is also a strong advocate for not just living longer, but living well, and actively seeks to improve patient's quality of life through research in scalp and limb cooling therapy to decrease common side effects of treatment such as hair loss and peripheral numbness. She currently serves as the chair of the Chapter of Medical Oncology, College of Physicians, Academy of Medicine Singapore, and also as Honorary Secretary of the Singapore Society of Oncology.
Jessica Lee is Head of Development at Beach House Pictures, one of Asia’s largest independent production companies. She has been involved in selling many of BHP’s most high profile documentary and unscripted programming. She was a producer on THE RAINCOAT KILLER, Netflix’s first Top 5 Korean true crime series and is currently producing another true crime feature documentary for Netflix. Before joining BHP, Jessica worked at VICE’s production office in China, researching award-winning shows for Netflix, National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel and more. She is currently an Adjunct Lecturer at NUS College teaching Documentary Filmmaking.
Dr Chen Ying is a qualitative medical and political sociologist specializing in modern China, who recently expanded her research to Southeast Asia. She received her doctorate in sociology from the National University of Singapore. Her book project, Spiritualizing Cancer: The Political Entanglement of New Religious Movement and Patient Activism in China, examines patient activism with the cultural legacy of the Qigong movement in the 1980s. Her research interest and commitment in sociology are rooted in her personal life experiences and the great complexities of Chinese society. She is currently serving as a lecturer at the National University of Singapore College.
Dr Mariana Losada has been a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore (NUS) since 2016. She acts as a representative of Université Paris Cité, Sciences Po, and INALCO in Southeast Asia. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Sciences Po, where she specialized in the internationalization of Higher Education and Research. During her doctoral studies, she was Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford and the University of Chicago. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she has been studying and working abroad for half of her life. Over her career, she has held different roles in the field of Higher Education in institutions and her experience in the public and private sector has spanned across areas such as internationalization strategies of universities, how technology changes education, and strengthening synergies between universities and business.
