About this event

Uncover the design details, hidden histories, and local gems of Singapore’s most iconic streets.

To celebrate Binary Style’s 10th anniversary, we’re inviting you to walk the very streets that have inspired our designs for years.

Join us for “Secrets of the Shophouses,” a specially comissioned and curated architectural and heritage walking tour through the distinctive neighbourhoods of Keong Saik, Tanjong Pagar, Duxton Hill, and Bukit Pasoh—some of the best places in Singapore to explore the evolution of the shophouse and the stories layered into every corner.

This area features one of the richest concentrations of preserved shophouses, showcasing a fascinating mix of architectural styles—from early transitional to art deco and modern reinterpretations. It’s the perfect setting for a leisurely walk filled with visual inspiration, local colour, and unexpected details.

Leading the tour is Kelvin Leong, an Independent Tour Curator & Storyteller with a deep passion for Singapore’s built and cultural heritage. A born-and-bred Singaporean, Kelvin decodes the island’s art, architecture, cuisine, and urban life for both overseas visitors and curious locals. With an academic background in Urban Geography, Urban Studies, and Visual Art Curatorialship, he offers a unique lens into the spaces we pass every day—turning sidewalks, corridors, and facades into rich narratives. Warm, relatable, and deeply knowledgeable, Kelvin brings history to life in a way that’s thoughtful, engaging, and delightfully unexpected.

As former architects, we at Binary Style have always drawn inspiration from the textures, lines, and spirit of Singapore’s historic streets. Now, we’re excited to share that fascination with you—right where it began.
