About this Event

Prof Swee Ching Tan at Department of Material Science & Engineering has developed a hydrogel that can do the job of dehumidification with Zero Energy Cost. The gel is a porous material which is made by combining special chemical salts with a solvent and then baked. It can according to Prof Tan absorb 10 times more moisture than silica gel which is a common gel used as drying agent. Potential applications and research projects include the reduction of the humidity in many areas including insulation of glass windows, fresh air treatment in air handling units, cooling of walkways and rooms in buildings and data centres as well as in-rack cooling of servers and dehumidification in fridges.

In this Seminar and Roundtable discussion we will learn more about this technology and discuss potential research projects as a collaboration between CoolestSG Industry Members and Prof Swee Ching Tan’s and his team.
