FAQs
Qn: Is this workshop conducted online?
Ans: Yes, this workshop will be conducted entirely online.
Qn: What do I need to prepare for this workshop?
Ans: Please make sure that your child has a working computer or laptop, with a strong internet connection and a working web camera, as well as an Android device, and a Gmail Account (Please refer to https://appinventor.mit.edu/explore/ai2/setup).
Qn: Why do I need an Android device and Google Account?
Ans: The workshop uses MIT App Inventor that runs on the Android operating system and requires you to sign in with a Gmail Account. (Please refer to https://appinventor.mit.edu/explore/ai2/setup)
Qn: Why does my child need prior experience in Scratch to attend this workshop?
Ans: App Inventor is a block-based drag and drop programming tool used to code mobile apps. It is quite similar to Scratch, however, the codes and blocks are significantly harder. We want to ensure the best learning experience, and students who are new to Scratch or coding may find this course too challenging. It is recommended for students age 11 and above, or for expert scratch programmers.
Qn: If my child is younger than 11 years old, can he/she still attend this workshop?
Ans: We recommend that your child try out our ScratchThinker classes that cater to the 7 to 12 age band. If your child has previous programming experience, and you feel that he/she can enrol in this workshop, please write in to us at classes@computhink.com.sg or Whatsapp us at +65 8858 6173.
Have we answered your queries? If not, please feel free to email us at classes@computhink.com.sg or Whatsapp us at +65 8858 6173.
