The Design Events Committee presents SHIFT. A design series brought to empower the Southeast Asia Design scene through inspirational and engaging talks.

This series will have leaders from different fields talk about how design is evolving, growing, and impacting Southeast Asia, from now and into the future. The series will involve talks, workshops, social events, and more.

The aim is to “shift” the design focus forward in Southeast Asia and beyond.

Q: When is SHIFT happening?

May 10th in Singapore. The venue will be at Marina One, Level 22 at Grab HQ. This is the first event of many.

Q: What are the participants expected to gain from this?

To understand, to learn, and feel inspired about the Southeast Asia Design scene. There are a lot of interesting use cases, problems, and behaviours that exist in Southeast Asia that may not exist anywhere else. It’s to bring forward the design scene and cultivate the culture of design, not just in Singapore but other cities as well.

Rest assured there will be pizza, wings, drinks, and more...

Q: How long is the event and how many people is expected to participate?

It will be on a weekday, May 10th, Thursday. Starts from 7pm, ends at 9pm. Expecting ~100 people (designers, engineers, researchers, content writers, design leaders) in attendance.

Q: Why is SHIFT different than other events?

As of right now, there isn’t an existing design series or events that exists in Southeast Asia that really tries to grow, support, and nurture the design scene whether it’s in UX or Visual, specifically in different cities around Southeast Asia. The aim is to bring people together and really inspire the region together.

A design series is a range of events, organized to bring designers and like-minded creatives together to share, hear, and be inspired by people in the industry. It can be from talks, workshops to social events. It is designed to bring everyone together and really nurture / grow the design scene in Southeast Asia.

Q: Will there be future events in other countries?

The aim is to carry this event into other cities in Southeast Asia to cultivate and grow the design scene. Whether it’s with local design talents or people who have a perspective of the design culture changing Southeast Asia.
