We encourage crowd participation and interaction.Who is Nazish Zafar?My PhD research in Sociology focused on government intervention in the small business economy based on in-depth interviews with more than 100 business owners and public sector officials in Singapore.My speciality is using qualitative research to uncover useful insights. Besides academic research, I have been engaged to do "sense-making" and evaluations by both the government and private sector.As a visual expression of my research, I am producing a series of photo-essays on small business owners around the world, sharing their practical wisdom and stories. Combining practices in research, service design, and playful collaboration, she designs holistic experiences that leverage the needs of both people and business. She currently works at Grab, designing service ecosystems for Grab Financial Group and financial products across the SEA region. Stephanie has lived and learned from many cities around the world and deeply believe in the power of design to make an impact. Her ultimate goal is to cultivate new possibilities for the future—one that is more open, delightful, and kinder to our environment.Who is Shift?SHIFT is a design events committee that brings talks and events to empower the Southeast Asia Design scene through inspirational and engaging talks.This series will have leaders from different fields talk about how design is evolving, growing, and impacting Southeast Asia, from now and into the future. The series will involve talks, workshops, social events, and more.The aim is to “shift” the design focus forward in Southeast Asia and beyond.Tickets are $10 for entry (not including a $2.24 fee).Light refreshments will be provided at the event.
