About this event

  • Event lasts 9 hours

This Experiential Learning Design Level #1 Certification Course will introduce new creative approaches that have never been experienced before.

Participants will learn how to:

  • use liberating design structures and templates to create exceptional learning experiences;
  • understand how to utilise and work with all the amazing human capacities for learning;
  • design for learners to co-create, co-produce, and inherit;
  • to do less facilitation work and more designs that let the learners learn by considered design;
  • design powerful navigational (scaffolding) tools to self-guide thinking, doing, sensing, talking, seeing etc;
  • Experience the importance of sensory intelligence for enhancing learning beyond the BIG FIVE
  • Learn about The Story of the Giraffe : Exploring distinct perspective through a narrative that reveals deep insights into experiential design
  • Unpacking the experience of touching of finger-tips : Our duality of existence in the rich textures of tactile learning
  • The Dynamics of Picking Up a Cup : Understanding complex integrations of actions and thoughts that transcend traditional learning cycles

Our foundational principle, "Let the learners DO (= experience) the learning," will guide you through a series of interactive, thought-provoking experiences, designed to challenge and refine the approach to teaching and facilitation. You will learn to question the implications of these experiences, as part of your professional practice, and to harmonise between instruction and experientiallearning.

Praise for the Learning Design Masterclass :

"Your workshop and lunchtime tips completely changed how I am approaching course design. A very big thank you." - Professor of Design, Germany

"I have already change my approach!" - Director of Learning, Corporate Company

"This Masterclass is thought-provoking from the get go. Not only does Colin share his rich knowledge of experiential learning techniques with you, he’ll also challenge you to reflect on the way you design and deliver your workshops. I’ve run experiential learning masterclasses all over the world, but even so, after attending the workshop I was immediately able to apply and improve my own practice. This workshop is a must for any facilitator, training or instructor who’d like to be challenged to deliver more engaging and impactful experiential learning." - Organisational Development, Corporate Company

"I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for the wonderful workshop Professor Colin Beard conducted on experiential learning today. As a primary school principal, I found the insights you shared to be incredibly valuable and thought-provoking. Your design of the workshop was engaging, informative, and well-structured, making it easy for us to follow along and actively participate in the activities. The examples you provided were particularly helpful in illustrating the practical applications of the concepts you discussed (I particularly like the example of walking up the stairs and counting). I appreciate the effort and expertise you brought to the workshop, and I am confident that the knowledge and skills I gained will prove invaluable in my work as a school principal. Your dedication to education and commitment to helping others learn is truly inspiring. Thank you once again for a fantastic workshop. I look forward to the opportunity to attend more of your sessions in the future." - Principal, Primary School

"Thanks for a great day. I found it really valuable - lots to think about." - Chief People Development Officer

"It was a real pleasure to work with you Colin. A particularly stimulating and worthwhile day for all." - CEO, Outdoor Centre
