Event description
Learn the basics of sketching underwater creatures using coloured pencils.

About this Event

In this underwater series, you will familiarise yourself with sketching using coloured pencils by learning to draw a different underwater creature each week. This is a monthly course that has four lessons in total. The dates for the first tranche of the Underwater Creatures series are:

  • 6, 13, 20, and 27 September 2020. Saturdays. 10am to 12pm.

In this course, you will:

  • Find out what makes a good reference photo and where to find them.
  • Develop a working concept of how to turn photos into line art.
  • Discover how to change elements in your reference photo to make a better drawing.
  • Explore different types of mark-making with coloured pencils.
  • Learn about visual colour mixing, and how to create rich shadows to create contrast in your art.
  • Learn to draw a different underwater creature each week.

No prior background in art is needed. The teacher will be there to guide you every step of the way, from the basic sketch to the choice of colours... If you've always wanted to learn to draw sea animals in a semi-realistic (almost Impressionistic) way, then this course is the perfect way to get started.

To kick-start this new creative adventure, you will receive a full sketching kit. Cost of materials is $35; to be paid at your first lesson.

All of our classes are held in our studio, 7F5R. The studio is located a short walk away from Clarke Quay MRT Station, at 33A Hong Kong Street, Singapore 059672.
