Sound Walk Workshop: Creating Compositions using Found Sounds
Join sound artist & producer of ‘WallflowersSG’ - Cheng Jin An, in this interactive workshop conducted at the Rooftop Studios of National Gallery Singapore. Using your own iPad and the GarageBand app, go on a sound walk and learn how you can use the sounds around you to create your own unique music track.

✔ Practice keen observation, and try your hand at sound creation & recording
✔ Get tips on the best practices for an effective sound collection process
✔ Learn techniques in post-production: how to edit and arrange sounds in Garageband

Date: Saturday, 19th March 2022
Time: 2 PM to 3.30 PM (1.5 hrs)
Venue: National Gallery Singapore, 1 St Andrew's Rd, Singapore 178957
Rooftop Studios, Level 5 (Take the lift from Coleman St Entrance)
Target Audience: Adults.
Teenagers and retirees, feel free to join us!
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult parent or caregiver. (Please RSVP 2 tickets per pair.)
NOTE: Participants will have to bring their own iPads with GarageBand already pre-installed. GarageBand is a free app on the Apple store. Download here.
No iPads will be provided during the event.
Event Advisory
Due to COVID restrictions, seating capacity is limited. A token fee of $5 is required to reserve a seat in this forum.
There will be no ticket sales at the door. All tickets must be purchased by 19th March 2022, 1000 hrs.
As the event is supported by National Arts Council (NAC), attendee names will be made known to NAC after the event.
Please note that proof of being fully vaccinated (booster jab more than 14 days before event date) is required for all attendees. There will be no on-site testing for this event.
All sessions will be conducted in line with prevailing SMM guidelines.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes earlier for SafeEntry check-in and registration.
In the event of cancellation due to COVID-19, your ticket will be fully refunded. Please allow us 3-5 working days to process the refund.
About the Facilitator
Jin An is a singer-songwriter and music producer in the mandopop industry. With over 8 years of songwriting and performance experience, she has been signed by various music publishing companies for her musical talents. Since her first independent release in 2016, Jin An has headlined in numerous events in Singapore, Taiwan and China, such as the ‘好in::乐’series by Esplanade and Wake Up Festival in Chiayi, Taiwan. She also produces multi-disciplinary projects like "Wallflowers: Sights and Sounds of Singapore" and hosts a podcast called the "Why Why Why Show". She is also the founder and producer for ‘IndieCreativeSg’. @chengjinan
About WallflowersSG
‘Wallflowers: Sights & Sounds of Singapore’ is a project encouraging Singaporeans to rediscover the beauty in their everyday lives. Supported by the National Arts Council, a team of creatives from the local arts scene have gathered to contribute different facets that make up this cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Altogether, Wallflowers consists of a sound collection, a video series, music tracks created by local music producers, as well as visual art in the form of found objects and location-based art installations.
The collaborators of the Wallflowers project hope to encourage Singaporeans to pay greater attention to their daily environments and rediscover the beauty of the little things in life.
