Talk 1: Spec-Driven Development with Architecture as the Source of Truth

Dr. Sirisilp Kongsilp

As AI coding agents generate more and more code, developers are increasingly losing overview and control of their systems. This talk introduces Spec-Driven Development (SDD), where architecture diagrams become the single source of truth that guides both humans and AI. You will learn how to maintain a clear, up-to-date understanding of your codebase even as AI writes large portions of it, and how exposing structured architecture to AI agents (instead of dumping raw files) can reduce token consumption by up to 45% while improving consistency and lowering technical debt. The session draws from real experience building and using Kratai, an open-source VS Code tool designed for architecture-driven AI development, including its application in university software engineering courses.
