Starlight Music-Making Programme (Season 1, 2021)
Event Information
About this Event
The Starlight Music-Making Programme by Voices of Singapore is an inclusive programme curated for children with special needs featuring fun and exciting songs, rhymes and activities, and an exploration into music concepts such as dynamics and rhythm.
The programme is recommended for special children aged 8-14, but we welcome children of any age to join us. The programme will be held on video conferencing platform Zoom, and a parent or guardian will be required to accompany participating children.
The conductors for this programme, Ms Ellissa Sayampanathan and Ms Tham Pei Wen are individuals with a wealth of experience in the choral industry, as well as with children with special needs. The conductors have completed studies in Music Pedagogy at the Kodaly Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Hungary, gaining insight into the Kodaly philosophy and approach to music education. The Kodaly philosophy has a strong focus of integrating music and movement, and is especially suited for special children.

As a non-profit organisation, Voices of Singapore believes strongly in making music and choral singing accessible to all, and the power of music to inspire and unite people. The Oscar@sg fund by Temasek Trust supports ground-up initiatives responding to significant or urgent community needs in Singapore arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are grateful to have their support for the benefit of the special needs community. Thanks to the fund, we are able to offer a full waiver of fees for this term.

We've also launched our new Support-a-singer Fund, which is a pool of contributed funds that will go directly to supporting singers in the VOS Choral Society who are in need of financial assistance. If you would like to contribute any amount to this fund to share the joy of singing with others, do click a "Support-a-singer" add-on option that suits you when making your order, and we'll be in touch through email to confirm your contribution! Thank you for your generosity.
