These 5 aspects taken care of, InsyaAllah the rest of our temporary lives will be guided.

The Prophet s.a.w. had advised us aptly to: “Take benefit of five before five: Your youth before your old age, your health before your sickness, your wealth before your poverty, your free time before you are preoccupied, and your life before your death” [Narrated by Ibn Abbas and reported by Al Hakim].

Many of us are familiar with this hadith, of which should had awakened a reality within ourselves. This hadith has indeed summarized the phases which we go through throughout life.

The scholars regard this as one of the core hadiths of the religion as it spurs one to be doing the right action in so many different life circumstances. It contains two key principles with respect to Islam’s approach to time management;

-a sense of urgency to our life and

-expressing thanks for our blessings

The whole language of this hadith points to the limited nature of our life and how time is running out. In Surah ar-Rahman verse 26, Allah s.w.t beautifully states ”Kullu man alaiyha faan” (All that is on earth will perish); describing the essential reality that every moment that passes is a moment that brings our death closer; our lifespan is like an upturned sand-timer and the last grain could drop soon.

So the Prophet s.a.w reminds us to act quickly before old age, before sickness, before our money decreases, before we get too busy and before our death. In other words, we must act now before it’s too late.

This links to the second principle of shukr, or gratefulness. Each one of the five matters are five blessings of the highest magnitude: youth (which Arabs have traditionally defined as less than 40), health, wealth, free time and life itself. Allah, Most Glorious, has informed us of the secret of keeping and indeed increasing our blessings: “If you are grateful, I shall certainly give you increase” (Qur’an 14:7).

How then do we give thanks for these blessings? Beyond thanking Allah regularly with our tongues, scholars explain that true gratefulness is to “use the blessing for what they were intended for” or as Junayd al-Baghdadi (r.a) explained: “That one not disobey Allah using the blessings He has given.” So, for instance, we should spend our youth in seeking beneficial knowledge; our wealth in sadaqah; our energy to worship Allah more.

 Ustazah Nazeerah Shaik Alwie, is no stranger to those who have been following local Islamic motivational talks and among the asatizahs. Blessed with a raw and real persona, this proud alumni of Alsagoff Arab School is huge in empowering sisters in faith and assist mommies in educating the future khalifah using Rasulullah (saw) as the epitome of reference. With great support from her husband and 3 children, she still receives engagements to speak at numerous stages. Ustazah Nazeerah who is deeply passionate in seeking knowledge also majors in Theology and specializing in Al-Quran and the sciences. Her thirst for knowledge pushed her to continues her Masters in Islamic Theology from the American Open University in Cairo and graduated with 1st Class Honour.

Our body is an amanah bestowed upon us, and yet many of us took advantage of this amanah negatively. When we are healthy, we will be able to worship Allah better and serve our community. But healthy live requires effort. Ustazah will walk through with participants in coming up with a basic Health blue-print InsyaAllah.

 Ustazah Ne’maat Sukor holds a Diploma in Al-Quran and Sunnah, majoring in Al-Quran Interpretation. She is also a Certified Trainer in Accelerated Learning and an ISO Certified Health Consultant. Her passion in aiding sisters achieving their optimal potential is evident in her work, sharing and contribution.

 Ustaz Muhammad Zahid Muhd Zain received his primary education in Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiyah up to pre-university. He furthered his studies at Mujamma' Shaykh Ahmad Kuftaro, Abu Nour, Damascus in Syria in Islamic Studies for 5 years. Ustaz Zahid is an icon in championing youth to reach their optimal potential and he serves as Naib Kadhi with ROMM.

Ustazah Nur Hidayah’s topic is on ‘Free time before busy time’ and this is perfect for her, as Ustazah will share with us on how she manages her time while ensuring her sharings on IG and Youtube are up, on time. Do we complain that time is running, or we actually rune behind time? What is the significance of ‘Al-Asr’ as mentioned by Allah in the shortest surah? And how important is time-management?

 Ustazah Hidayah is a content creator who actively shares her daily reflections through videos on her Instagram. She enjoys inspiring others out there to never be afraid to do something new and always has faith in Allah for the great adventure He has for us. After spending 12 years of her education at Madrasah Al-Junied Al-Islamiah, she furthered her studies at University of Malaya and was conferred the B.A. in Usuluddin (Al-Quran and Hadith).
