The evening begins with the infectious rhythms of Danzón No. 2, a vibrant work that sets the stage alight with swagger, warmth, and irresistible dance spirit. Playful colours and bold vitality follow in Milhaud’s Cello Concerto No. 1 and Korngold’s Cello Concerto in C major. After the interval, the celebration reaches its joyful climax with Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 which brings the night to a triumphant and uplifting close.
