Event description

Description

If you’re looking to learn basic programming skills or join the next TechLadies Bootcamp, you should join us at the TechLadies Pre-Bootcamp Workshops!

What is the TechLadies Bootcamp #4?

TechLadies is a community for women in Asia to connect, learn, and advance as programmers. One of our main programs, the oversubscribed TechLadies Bootcamp, is back!

Held in Singapore, the TechLadies Bootcamp is a 12-week part-time accelerated learning program designed for women who wish to be professional programmers. Ladies are guided by industry experts to create products for nonprofit organizations.

30% of the graduates received technical internships and/or were hired as junior software engineers.

The next TechLadies Bootcamp will run from 1 September - 17 November 2018 teaching the JavaScript programming language. Read more about the TechLadies Bootcamp #4 at this link.

Apply to the TechLadies Bootcamp #4

We learned that it is important for TechLadies Bootcamp participants to have some sort of programming foundation in order to build a web product that will be used by the NGOs. Hence, you will need to complete a technical task outlined at this link before applying to the TechLadies Bootcamp at this link.

Don’t worry, we are here to help you acquire the skills you need to complete the task with this series of workshops. You don't have to attend all 3 workshops if you have existing technical knowledge.

You should walk away with an understanding of how a simple full-stack web application works.

What do I need to bring to these workshops?

Please bring along a working laptop with internet accessibility and its charger. You may also need to tether data from your phone if the wifi at the venue isn't working out for you. Please also join our Facebook group beforehand and follow this setup guide before coming for the workshops to make sure your machine is setup for development.

If you don’t come with your machine set up, you may find yourself not benefitting from the workshops as you will have to spend time setting things up on the day itself and may have trouble following along with the session.

Who should join these Workshops?

The pre-bootcamp workshops are open for all women regardless of background and nationalities who wish to learn basic programming skills so as to apply to the 12-week TechLadies Bootcamp.

This workshop is also open to women who do not wish to apply to the TechLadies Bootcamp but just want to learn some basic programming skills. You will learn how to create and design a simple web application.

Only women who have completed the final task outlined here are eligible to be considered for the TechLadies Bootcamp.

Workshop Costs

To minimize no-shows, a small fee per workshop is required. Scholarships are provided for women with financial difficulties. Please email Min (huimin@techladies.co) or Shirlaine (shirlaine@techladies.co) to request for scholarships. As light refreshments are provided, we will be unable to provide any refund.

Commitment to Diversity in Tech

As we are trying to improve the gender ratio of the tech industry, these workshops are only for women and those who identify as one. Should you no longer be able to attend, please transfer your ticket to a woman. Male attendees will, unfortunately, be turned away at the door.
