About the TechLadies Penang - Coding Weekend

TechLadies is bringing its coding workshop back to Malaysia! Piloted in Singapore, this coding workshop was taught to a sold-out crowd both in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Join us at the TechLadies Coding Weekend where you will learn how the web works, how the browser renders stuff, CSS/HTML, Git, Github and Github Pages. You will also get your hands dirty by designing and creating your very own website, and uploading it online!

We provide scholarships to women with financial difficulties. Should you are unable to pay for the fees, please email elisha@techladies.co to request for a scholarship!

What is the TechLadies?

TechLadies is a community for women in Asia to connect, learn, and advance as programmers. Since our launch in 2016, TechLadies is now a community with over 2400 members.

We've taught 311 ladies in Singapore and Malaysia how to code and saw 9 ladies getting technical internships or hired as junior software engineers. You can find more information about us on our website: http://www.techladies.co/.

Your Coach - Chen Hui Jing

Hui Jing is a developer, author, and speaker from Malaysia who loves to play with live demos on stage. Reducing lines of code in her web projects makes her extremely happy. She used to play basketball professionally and launched her web career during between training sessions.

Hui Jing has spoken at CSSConf.Asia, CSSConf EU and Mozilla Developer Roadshow Asia, and taught at General Assembly and TechLadies. She is also the co-organiser of Talk.CSS, the first CSS-centric meetup in Singapore.

Plus, there will also be plenty of assistant coaches around to help answer any questions you have!

FAQ:

Who should come?
This workshop is designed for females age 16 and above. You do not need to have any programming background to join this workshop. To qualify for a Students ticket, you will need to produce proof (i.e. a student card or ID) at the door.

How much does this cost?
To minimize no-shows, a small fee is required. Tickets for Students are RM30/SGD10, and tickets for Non-Students are RM90/SGD30. As breakfast and lunch are provided, we will be unable to provide any refund.

What should I bring?
Please bring along a working laptop and charger. All kinds of laptops are fine as long as you have a browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari) installed.

I’m not a woman, can I come?
As we are trying to improve the gender ratio of the tech industry, these workshops are only for women and those who identify as one. Should you no longer be able to attend, please transfer your ticket to a woman. Male attendees will, unfortunately, be turned away at the door.

If you have any questions, please drop Elisha an email at elisha@techladies.co.
