If you’re looking to join the next TechLadies Bootcamp in preparation to become a software engineer or build your own startup, you should join us at the TechLadies Pre-Bootcamp Workshops!

TechLadies is a community for women to connect, learn and advance as programmers. Part of what we do is the highly subscribed TechLadies Bootcamp, featured in the Straits Times.

The TechLadies Bootcamp is a 10-week program where women learn how to code by creating web applications for non-profit organizations, under the guidance of industry experts. 33% of the TechLadies Bootcamp graduates eventually found software-related jobs and internships.

The next TechLadies Bootcamp will run from 24 Sep - 3 Dec 2016 focusing on the Ruby programming language. This is a part-time program designed for women with near-zero coding background but wish to switch careers into the tech industry. You are required to attend weekly sessions on Saturday afternoons and code on your own throughout the week, committing at least 15 hours per week. How to Apply to the TechLadies Bootcamp?

We learned that it is important for TechLadies Bootcamp participants to have some sort of programming foundation in order to build a web product that will be used by the NGOs. Hence, you will need to complete a technical task (to be released publicly on 12 Aug) before applying to the TechLadies Bootcamp.

Don’t worry, we are here to help you acquire the skills you need to complete the task with this series of workshops. Each workshop comes with an assignment that will help you complete the final task. You don't have to attend all 3 workshops if have existing technical knowledge.

TechLadies Pre-Bootcamp Workshops Curriculum

As we have a limited amount of assistant coaches and coaches available, we are unable to accept any walk-ins.

Workshop #1 - Get Started

Date/Time: 6 August 2016, 1pm - 5pm

Venue: National Design Centre, 111 Middle Rd, Singapore 188969 (Please go up to Labs@NDC Lvl 3)

Prerequisites: None.

Learn about the foundational & key concepts of programming. You will also get to create your very own little program at the end of this workshop.

Workshop #2 - Front-end Development

Date/Time: 13 August 2016, 1pm - 5pm

Venue: National Design Centre, 111 Middle Rd, Singapore 188969 (Please go up to Labs@NDC Lvl 3)

Prerequisites: Familiarity with basic terminal commands and programming concepts. Please make sure you have a text editor installed in your laptop.

Learn about how the web works, how the browser renders stuff, and CSS/HTML. You will also get your hands dirty by designing a web application.

Workshop #3 - Web Applications with Ruby on Rails

Date/Time: 20 August 2016, 1pm - 5pm

Venue: The Hub Singapore, 128 Prinsep Street, Singapore 188655

Prerequisites: Familiarity with basic terminal commands, programming concepts, CSS/HTML.

Learn about Ruby on Rails, a web application framework running on the Ruby programming language. By thie end of this workshop, you would be able to create a decent looking simple web application.

Who should join the TechLadies Pre-Bootcamp Workshops?

The pre-bootcamp workshops are open for all women regardless of background or age, who wish to learn basic programming skills so as to eventually apply to the 10-week TechLadies Bootcamp. Only women who have completed the final task (to be released on 12 Aug) are eligible to apply to the TechLadies Bootcamp.

Workshop Costs

To minimize no-shows, a small fee is of $30 per workshop is required. Scholarships are provided for women with financial difficulties. Please email elisha@techladies.co to request for scholarships.
