About this event
The quartet will bring you intercultural dialogue using something they favor best which is jazz from diffeent cultures, with diverse moods, and a variety of rhythms from different corners of the world.
For this program, they will showcase some refined lyricists, for instance: “Everybody’s songs but My Own” a masterpiece written by John Taylor and lyrics by singer Norma Winstone, as well as “Dienda”, Music by Kenny Kirkland and Lyrics by Sting.
We challenge you to not be mesmerised by their interpretation!

About the musicians:
DANIELA RUGGIERI
Daniela Ruggieri is well known for her distinctive use of the voice as complete music instrument, provided with a full three-octaves extension, and for her mesmerizing stage presence that always captivates her audience. Her tone is vibrant, warm and seductive and her phrasing is always personal and authentic. She loves to bring classic jazz standards to life with creative arrangements. Her repertoire also includes all time favorite Bossa Novas and sophisticated Italian songs that she delivers with her unique combination of melodic and rhythmic phrasing,
She started her professional singing career in Italy. She studied at the National Academy of Jazz in Siena and she particularly focused on improvisation and vocal technique. From the beginning she played with a wide variety of internationally acclaimed Italian jazz musicians, such as Fabrizio Mocata, Simone Graziano, Giulio Stracciati, the G.O.P Siena Jazz Big Band. In
2009, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she performed and studied jazz piano at The Jazzschool in Berkeley.
RACHMA LIM
Pint-sized, but potent pianist, Rachma Lim, hails from North Sumatra. Even before earning her Masters Degree in Jazz Studies at New York City’s Queens College, Rachma had performed extensively with jazz big bands and trios; even backing internationally-touring vocalists. A recording artist and consummate stage performer, Rachma journeys comfortably through cross-over world music, as she does with her own compositions. Rachma’s passion and diligence in her craft, continues to fuel her broadening depth as a musician.
MASSIOMO ALIOTO
Massimo Alioto started playing drums at the age of seven. He has graduated in jazz drums (magna cum laude) from the historical Conservatory of Music of Bologna “G. B. Martini”, Italy. He has recorded for prestigious Italian labels such as Splasc(h) Records, and has created music in a wide range of bands, from trios to avant-garde big bands and gospel choirs. He has performed in Italy, Germany, United States and more recently in Singapore.
FABIAN LEE
Fabian Lee is a versatile Jazz bassist on both double bass and electric bass.
He studied double bass under the tutelage of Karen Yeo (SSO) and jazz rhythm section under Greg Lyons (Grooveworks). He sets the most rhythmic and infectious grooves for the band’s repertoire.
Fabian plays for the Singapore based fusion bands Evolution Quartet, Continuo and More Lions. He has developed a keen ear for sophisticated rhythmic structures, and cutting edge jazz.
