Death Cafe is a relaxed discussion where everyone is welcome to share their thoughts and feelings about death, dying, and anything else that comes to mind.
It's a safe space to ask questions and explore a topic we often avoid.
What makes this unique:
Normalising what is taboo in a safe haven.
A Death Café is where we invite people, often strangers, to gather to drink tea – or coffee - eat cake, discuss death. There is no agenda or objective; rather it is a group-directed discussion. It is not a grief support or counselling session.
May I invite you to come with an open mind, gentle heart, without judgement, expectations.
What to expect:
Harbouring a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, this is a chance for you to meet new people in a safe space to share your thoughts and feelings about death
A variety of topics may be discussed, such as end-of-life planning, grief and loss, religious and spiritual beliefs about death, and more.
Details:
Experience takes place at Crane Claymore, between 3pm-5pm. Ticket includes one coffee or tea.
Please arrive at 2:30PM to collect your beverage.
About your Death Café host:
Sharon wrote her thesis on death attitudes of older Chinese in Singapore in fulfilment of her Masters in Gerontology at Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). She followed up on her interest by conducting further death related interviews across two generations for a university.
Sharon hosted her first death café at a private wealth event in Hong Kong. The former journalist develops content and facilitate discussions on a variety of topics, and death is the one topic that is closest to her heart, and the basis of her book (in working progress).
