Synopsis:

Headlines are all about the COVID pandemic. However, diabetes remains an ever-present threat, with diabetic complications like amputations and kidney dialysis.

Dr. Matthew Tan will share stories from a few of his patients about how they cope with this chronic disease during this difficult COVID period. And from these stories, he hopes to glean some tips and tricks on preventing, and perhaps even “reversing” this condition.

Brief introduction to the speaker:

Dr. Matthew Tan Zhen-Wei is the Medical Director and Consultant Endocrinologist of Dr. Matthew Tan Diabetes and Endocrine Care, located at Farrer Park Medical Centre.

Prior to private practice, he was a Consultant with the Department of Endocrinology at Singapore General Hospital. He held academic appointments as Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. His clinical interests include Diabetes Mellitus, Thyroid, General Endocrinology, and subspecialty interests in the area of Calcium and Metabolic Bone Disorders and Osteoporosis.

He is married with 2 daughters. He enjoys slow jogging as a form of de-stress and as part of a diabetes prevention program.
