THE GREENHOUSE GATHERING 4
How does one learn and navigate through the practices of socially engaged art? How can artists marry social issues with their art form in reflexive and grounded ways?
Learn about the journey and practice of Han Xuemei, a theatre practitioner who currently serves as the Co-Artistic Director of theatre company Drama Box, and was recently conferred the Young Artist Award in 2021. Her artistic practice involves designing experiences, spaces and conditions for people to exercise their right to be creative, disrupt routines and deconstruct paradigms. From youth theatre, facilitation work with 3Pumpkins, art residencies, watching football, to becoming a co-artistic director, Xuemei will be reflecting on how various influences and explorations intersect and inform her socially engaged art practice followed by a Q&A discussion.
The session will be held on Zoom, so bring your breakfast and join us!

FAQ about The Greenhouse Gathering
What is The Greenhouse Gathering?
The Greenhouse Gathering hopes to create spaces to support practitioners and generate dialogue on arts-based, community-engaged practices. It is an open space for practitioners to initiate programmes, topics and dialogue.
How is it different from The Greenhouse Sessions?
Consider it an informal fireside chat, or an extension of the conversations in The Greenhouse Sessions. Unlike the Sessions, the Gathering does not have a workshop component. It is also a free-form space where programmes can be directed and shaped by community members.
