The Helper Documentary Screening

Founded in 2006, Aidha is an award-winning charity with Institution of Public Character (IPC) status. Aidha offers financial education and self-development programmes such as money management, computer literacy, leadership and entrepreneurial skills for foreign domestic workers and lower-income women. We envision ‘sustainable futures through financial education’ so that every woman has the opportunity to determine her own future.

'The Helper' is an award-winning documentary showcasing the sacrifices and the spirit of Hong Kong’s unsung heroes, the migrant domestic workers. The film chronicles their stories and juxtapositions their vast contributions to society with the tragic separation from their families. Tickets for FDWs are FREE. For the general public, we encourage guests to make a donation which will contribute to Aidha’s "Gift of Education" campaign. (Note that donations above $10 are eligible for 250% tax deduction.) Get your tickets today! 
The screening of The Helper is one of the several activities that is part of the Unspoken Life Photography Exhibition. Unspoken Life gives voice to the journeys that FDWs take when they arrive in Singapore. There are over 240,000 FDWs in Singapore but many remain unseen and invisible, defined solely by their duties and responsibilities. This exhibition delves beneath the labels to unfurl the many selves that FDWs keep hidden from Singapore society – as dreamers, artists, and changemakers, both locally and in their home countries. The featured photographs are taken by FDWs as part of the Unspoken Life Photography Competition.
