Description

The User in Mind:

Cognition Perception and Behaviour in the Built Environment

Perspectives from Science, Policy and Practice

The symposium will bring together a multidisciplinary panel of speakers exploring the role of spatial cognition research, policy, architectural and urban design in understanding and designing for people.

The symposium will host presentations from cognitive sciences, architecture, urban design and planning, in order to advance the exchange between researchers and practitioners:
  • How do practicing architects and planners design for and anticipate user-needs?
  • How can research on spatial cognition and behaviour, be translated into design policy?
  • What new research directions in human behaviour can help create better policies and guidelines for the design of buildings or districts?
The symposium offers CPD points for members of the Singapore Institute of Planners and the Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects.
