The Vault: RE:CALL

Centre 42 is a non-profit arts organisation with IPC status committed to the creation, documentation and promotion of text-based works for the Singapore stage. As a theatre development space and intermediary, we incubate original writings for the stage, support the development of artists and new works, and develop and maintain a functional archive documenting the histories and processes of Singapore theatre.For more information on Centre 42’s programmes and initiatives, please visitwww.centre42.sg. Centre 42 is developed in collaboration with the National Arts Council (NAC), and officially opened in 2014. We are supported by the NAC for the period 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2023.

First written and performed by Claire Wong and Noorlinah Mohamed in 2006 and revised in subsequent iterations in 2009, 2015, and 2016, Recalling Mother is an evolving text featuring two women telling stories about their mothers and the complexities in their relationships with them.Join the two dance artists as they respond to the original text through introspective reflections on their own multi-layered relationships with their mothers, while being guided by a shared interest in exchange, reciprocity and dialogue.* * *Accompanying this performance showcase is a workshop where the artistic team will share their devising techniques and processes with dance participants and facilitate the creation of participants’ own responses to the text of Recalling Mother.
