Timothy Mok Quintet @ The Jazz Loft

In June 2022, the iconic Singapore music venue Blu Jaz reopened its live music program with the Jazz Loft, located on the 3rd floor of it’s premises at Bali Lane.The mission of this new space, is to showcase jazz, and improvisation, as an evolving art form, rather than a museum-piece, presenting those artists, both local and international, that are part of the forward motion, and artistic development of the music.

Young up-and-coming  pianist Timothy Mok presents his own modern jazz originals and re-imaginations of standards, with a great young band

The genesis of this band was inspired and directed by recent developments in modern jazz, in particular the influence of new music fusing jazz with other genres such as drum n bass, progressive rock, and EDM. The music combines such innovative sounds with elements from the post-bop tradition, resulting in a fresh approach to composition and new takes on traditional standards.The ensemble, headed by 20-year-old Timothy Mok (piano) accompanied by fellow young blood 20-year-old Ethan Gau (guitar), together with somewhat more seasoned musicians Benjamin Loh (drums), Judy Tsai (bass) and Johan Liedberg (tenor sax.), they will undoubtedly showcase some of the real diversity of jazz.The Band:Benjamin Loh on drumsJudy Tsai on bassTimothy Mok on pianoEthan Gau on guitarJohan Liedberg on tenor saxophoneDoors open at 7.00pmSets at 7.45 and 9.15pmCover charge $22 for both sets
