About this event

This is a private event only for the Tiny Play Club community. To join the community, please WhatsApp me at 87266246 to introduce yourself and your child(ren) before booking tickets. There are no membership fees to join the community. As this is an in-person community, I would like to personally know every attending family to keep the community safe.

Hi parents, I am a mom of a 2.5 year old toddler and I have been hosting play sessions, playgroups, swim clubs, talks, parties and other private events for a growing community of parents with young children aged 0-6 years old who meet regularly to play, socialise and have fun together.

Check out @tinyplayclub on Instagram, where I share reels and snippets of our community events and play ideas that the kids loved.

I am so excited to share that Tiny Play Club is collaborating with Jackie Li, one of the mums in our community who is also a pediatric speech and feeding therapist and the creator of the Little Food Explorers picky eating e-course to host parent & child cooking classes for toddlers and preschoolers aged 18 months to 6 years old at my home.

The cooking will be real. If your child is a picky eater, this cooking class is perfect for your child to get exposed to new foods in a fun and positive way. If your child is a natural foodie, come along and experience the joy of cooking with other children!

There will be a maximum of 7 kids at each cooking class to keep the class cosy and for Jackie to give each child attention.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣

What are we cooking?

We will be making vegetable nuggets on 31 March. In this highly sensorial cooking class, we will play with vegetables as a group, and then incorporate them into healthy and yummy nuggets in our children’s favourite shapes - edible vegetable playdough anyone?

As a feeding therapist, Jackie does not believe in sneaking vegetables in our children‘s food just to smuggle this important food group into their bodies.

Playful exploration is essential in helping children (especially those who do not like vegetables) to feel more comfortable with, and develop a positive association with vegetables which increases the chances of them tasting and eating vegetables - without bribing or forcing them to eat.

Potential allergens: none

As the children will gather around a low table to prepare the ingredients, actively participate in the cooking and follow a recipe, attending children should be at least 18 months old to be able to fully enjoy the cooking class experience.

Are the ingredients used halal?

Yes.

Adult-accompanied event

This is an adult-accompanied community event for both children and caregivers to socialise - strictly no drop-offs!

Cancellation policy

Jackie earns a fixed amount per cooking class that she hosts because she has spent time and effort to come all the way down to share her knowledge and expertise to the community.

As this cost is split among families who have booked to attend, tickets are non-refundable but can be transferred to another child. Alternatively, families are welcome to attend a future Tiny Food Explorers cooking class without extra cost as a one-off make-up (subject to space capacity limits, please reach out to me privately to discuss).

About the host

Jackie is the founder of Two Way Street Speech Therapy and Parenting Services. She has 12 years of experience working as a paediatric speech language therapist in clinical and classroom settings. She has experience in working with children ages 0 to 10 of varying learning needs, including autism, development delays, picky eating, and speech sound disorders.

Jackie believes that young children are capable and should be involved in the kitchen from an early age. She is passionate to share with parents how to make common kitchen tasks child-friendly, and turn them into a joyful experience for both parent and child, that is also language-rich and sensory-rich.

Weaving her experiences as a feeding therapist trained in the SOS Feeding Approach and as a Montessori-inspired mum, Jackie has created Little Food Explorer, Singapore's first online course for parents to understand why their children are picky with food and to learn tips and strategies to resolve picky eating. She has also recently hosted Mighty Food Explorer, a cooking class for picky eaters aged 3-7 at Mindful Space.

As an advocate of respectful discipline, she strives to influence parents and educators to treat children with love and respect. She can be found on @jackieli_twowaystreet and @little.food.explorers on Instagram.

⁣Notes:

  • This is a private event only for the Tiny Play Club community. Tickets will be automatically cancelled for bookings I do not recognize. Please WhatsApp me at 87266246 before booking tickets if you have not attended Tiny Play Club events before.
  • All Tiny Play Club events are adult accompanied. Parents, grandparents and/or helpers are welcome.
  • A maximum of 2 adult caregivers per family so as not to crowd the play space
  • I kindly request parents not to bring puffs or packaged snacks as my child has a weakness towards these addictive snacks and those snacks will affect his appetite for meals and worsen his picky eating :-D
  • Feel free to WhatsApp me at 87266246 if you’d like to join us or if you have any questions!
