Event description
An expanded animation project showcase addressing the sense of touch in visual art practice

About this event

During my first year of PhD, I have undertaken an expanded animation project that addressed the sense of touch in visual art practice. By incorporating the artist’s handmade quality in my film, combining it with haptic visuality and installation practice, I seek to create an inclusive form of animation, while addressing the social hierarchy of the senses in art and society through expanded cinema practice.

In the installation, I will present tactile objects that I use in my animation while projecting the animation video on screen.

Participants will be asked to experience the expanded animation by touching the objects presented in the installation while watching a short animation loop. The participant will then discuss the quality of the installation’s execution, participants’ gestures, experience, and new ideas related to the animation and the installation.

Your feedback from the discussion will help me make a better experimental animation project in the future. It is very valuable for me and will be greatly appreciated.

There will be snacks provided for participants in the workshop session!

I am looking forward to meeting you in the carpentry room.
