Wholeness in the Storm:
Optimising mindset and resilience

Our world is in a state of upheaval.

The cost of living is rising. The landscape of work is changing. Even the climate is no longer what it used to be.

Amid these changes, it can sometimes feel as though we are weathering one storm after another.

But what we have come to understand is that storms are not meant to be endured.

They are meant to be navigated.

At The School of Positive Psychology’s Open House 2025, discover how you can optimise your mindset and resilience, and find wholeness in the storm.

Through three specialised tracks, learn how to build your inner resources and develop actionable tools to move through these cycles of change, and find a renewed sense of balance and purpose along the way.

Session 1 – Before the Storm:
Building resilience and readiness

Things don’t fall apart all at once. Often, we notice the cracks forming long before the storm arrives.

Periods of uncertainty, pressure, and transition invite us to pause, prepare, and strengthen ourselves before challenges hit. This session explores how to build an inner foundation by developing psychological reserves that steady us when life shifts.

Through Positive Psychology, we’ll uncover how our strengths anchor us, optimism broadens our perspective, and meaning helps us find direction—even in times of change.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand how positive psychology tools build readiness before adversity strikes
  • Recognise the role of self-leadership in preparing for life’s challenges
  • Learn practical strategies to begin your self-leadership journey

Led by Jana Dawson, Deputy CEO at TSPP

Session 2 – In the Storm:
Facing Turbulence

Crisis, burnout, or conflict can often feel like the end of the road, when the path ahead is unclear and escape seems impossible.

Psychotherapy offers a shelter in the chaos, a space to pause, face discomfort, and learn how to anchor ourselves amid the turbulence. In this session, we’ll explore ways to regulate emotions, manage despair, and reconnect with the person we are beneath the noise, gaining tools to navigate life’s most challenging moments.

Learning Outcomes

  • Discover how psychotherapy creates a safe, grounding space when life feels overwhelming
  • Learn practical ways to manage anxiety, despair, and emotional chaos without unnecessary complexity
  • Practise courage, compassion, and meaning-making to build real, sustainable resilience

Led by Stephen Lew, Founder & CEO at TSPP

Session 3 – After the Storm:
Moving Forward and Growing

The human experience moves in cycles — of challenge, change, and renewal. After every storm comes a moment for reflection, integration, and growth.

Coaching Psychology helps us navigate these cycles with intention, using reflection to chart purposeful next steps and to work with life’s rhythms rather than against them. In this session, we’ll explore how stormy moments can become catalysts for growth, and how coaching empowers us to set our sights on new and meaningful horizons.

Learning Outcomes

  • Recognise how coaching supports personal growth and renewal after periods of challenge
  • Understand how reflection and reframing can transform setbacks into opportunities for clarity, learning, and purposeful action
  • Identify key coaching principles that help individuals move forward with confidence and direction

Led by Nicole Glisson, Head of Positive Psychology at TSPP
