VOS Festival 2025 - Community Festival Chorus

Voices of Singapore Festival 2025 invites choristers of Singapore to join us in our 2025 Community Festival Chorus Concert at the historic Capitol Theatre on Wednesday, 10 September 2025.

About

The Community Festival Chorus is a short-term choir formed specially for the VOS Festival, bringing together people from all walks of life who share a common passion in singing. The chorus will rehearse over four sessions, culminating in a performance at the festival’s finale concert. It will be led by esteemed guest conductor Dr. Robert Casteels (Singapore), alongside VOS conductor Sean Foo, offering a meaningful and uplifting musical experience for all participants.

A Juilliard graduate and two-time recipient of the prestigious Bruno Walter Memorial Scholarship, Dr Casteels has conducted more than 50 professional orchestras across 20 countries. His work in Singapore began in 1995 as Music Director of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and the award-winning Philharmonic Winds. As a sought-after educator and conductor, Dr Casteels has taught at YST Conservatory of Music, NAFA, and LASALLE, in addition to many other local and international music institutions.

Eligibility

• Minimum age of 21 years old
• Choral experience is highly recommended
• Applicants should be able to sing in 4 parts securely with accuracy of pitching and rhythm

Rehearsals:

30 August, Saturday: 7:30pm - 10pm @ VOS Capitol Studios B1

1 September, Monday: 7:30pm - 10pm @ VOS Capitol Studios B1

7 September, Sunday: 9:30am - 12pm @ VOS Capitol Studios B1

8 September, Monday: 7pm - 9:30pm @ VOS Capitol Studios B1

Concert:

Date: 10 September 2025, Wednesday

Warm-up: 6pm - 6:30pm @ Capitol Outdoor Plaza

Soundcheck: 6:30pm - 7:30pm @ Capitol Theatre

Concert: 8pm - 9:30pm @ Capitol Theatre

Repertoire

Full Repertoire will be announced latest in July 2025 via WhatsApp.

Stage Dress Code

Smart casual attire with any combination of black, white and shades of red, with black covered shoes. Skirts and dresses should be knee-length or longer.

Memory Work

Scores are permitted for performance. No memory work is required.
