About this event

In this watercolour beginners’ course, participants will learn the basic techniques of watercolour painting, working on different themes, so that they can not only paint with confidence but also have fun and joy at the same time as they engage in this therapeutic art form.

Course Outline

Introduction to types of brushes, watercolour, papers & practice holding, brushing, and basic water-colouring. Learn the basic light and shadow with watercolour and to practice still life.

To learn the technique of underpainting and to practice scenery colouring at the mountain.

To learn the Wet on Wet technique and to practice water-colouring wet on wet.

To learn the dry brush technique for feathery animals and to practice painting a furry animal with a dry brush.

To learn how to draw and paint water droplet effect and to practice water droplets painting.

To learn the technique of watercolour reaction with salt & practice watercolour painting with salt elements.

Learning Outcome

• Appreciate and understand the watercolour medium.

• Ability in painting different themes with watercolour.

• Understand the light and shadow of water-colouring.

• Ability in creating watercolour painting with texture.

Things to bring from home:

Participants can also prepare newspaper and cloth for their own usage. The newspaper helps prevent accidental dirtying of the tables and the cloths will allow you to clean the brushes given to you.

COURSE FEE:

$290 is the full course fee.

$58 for seniors eligible for National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidy*

*NSA subsidy is for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 50 and above.

In addition to NSA subsidy, course fee may be offset by SkillsFuture Credit (SFC).

Payment Procedure:

1) Upon registration, course participants are to make payment for the course through Brahm Centre’s Eventbrite page. This is considered as a deposit to reserve a place in the course.

2) Participants have to claim with SFC before the course start date through the SkillsFuture portal, https://www.myskillsfuture.gov.sg/

3) Brahm Centre will reimburse the amount that is successfully claimed upon receipt of the funds from SFC. This procedure can take up to 12 weeks from the course end date.

  • Please note that payments for courses are non-refundable.
  • There are no make-up lessons if you miss any session and the trainer is not obligated to do a recap during the following session.
  • Brahm Centre reserves the right to replace a trainer, should the trainer be unable to conduct the class due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Photos and/or videos may be taken during activities for Brahm Centre's records and promotional purposes.

Trainer Bio:

Sher Ley is a graduate from the Raffles Design Institute Singapore (used to be call LASALLE International Fashion School (L.I.F.S) Singapore) and also holds a NAFA Certificate in Children’s Art and Craft. With more than 10 years of teaching experience under her belt, her bubbly and jovial demeanour makes her an instant hit with all her students. Shirley’s passion for Arts goes beyond teaching in the classroom setting. She has spent more than 10 years volunteering in the art programme at Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore (CPAS). Shirley is currently teaching intermediate art classes at Petit Atelier – Art School.
