We Keep Us Safe
Overview

On Sun, 28 Jun, join TJC at Pearl’s Hill Terrace as part of the international Support Don’t Punish campaign.

Transformative Justice Collective is organising We Keep Us Safe, a day of activities at Pearl’s Hill Terrace, where we build knowledge, skills and experience in keeping each other safe from state and societal violence in its different forms.

We start with Support. Don’t Punish: A Harm Reduction Workshop in the afternoon at Stranger Conversations, which will explore whether the PAP government’s brutal drug policies really do what they claim to, and what better alternatives we can imagine to keep our communities safer from the harms of drug use.

This will be followed by Support. Don’t Punish: A Harm Reduction Workshop, a storytelling session at Kult Yard where five storytellers will share personal journeys of how punishment has derailed and disrupted their lives, and, on the flipside, how peer and community support have helped them survive.

After a short dinner break, we will close the night with the launch of TJC’s brand new handbook, No Comment: Your Right to Resist the Police. This handbook serves as a citizen’s practical guide to navigating police investigations, raids, stop-and-search encounters, and standing your ground in resistance to police overreach and legal sanctions. It also provides helpful tips on organising comrade support, legal aid, crowdfunding for fines, and other forms of solidarity we can extend to each other. The handbook is a sobering confrontation with the overwhelming state and police powers under Singapore’s authoritarian regime, and the limited rights citizens have, but it ends on a hopeful note of how, when we are organised, we can withstand and overcome state persecution.

Join us for any or all of these events, as we show our solidarity with the international Support Don’t Punish campaign this June.
