Conversations to deepen your understanding of complex social issues in Singapore

About this event

Why Like That? — A question we ask ourselves because we expect a different circumstance, a better outcome.

In this series, we explore the complexities of the social issues we face in Singapore. We hope through conversations, we will start shifting away from answering 'why like that?' with 'because like that lor' because it really shouldn't be just like that lor.

We may not have any answers or big solutions. But what we do have is a safe space to talk about these things with each other, in hopes of finding new perspectives and new ways to confront existing struggles.

In this first season, we're expanding the conversation on mental wellbeing at the workplace. Join us on Thursday evenings, 8-930PM as we explore and unpack different themes of mental health and wellbeing at the workplace.

Part 1

  • 8 Jul: The Unhappiest Workforce*: What does this mean to you and for our society?
  • 15 Jul: How do we regain control?

Part 2

  • 5 Aug: Supporting my team's mental wellbeing: An invisible bullet point in my JD
  • 12 Aug: Fearless leader with a fear of being vulnerable with my team: A leader's struggle

*According to a study conducted in May 2021. Read more here.

After 2 meaningful seasons of White Book Book Club, we want to continue the dialogue with you and also find more ways to bring in the topics that you all have mentioned to us! For the regulars, if you are a little worried about missing the White Book, we hope it reassures you that themes and formats from Seasons 1 and 2 will still be featured!

For those of you who are new to us, don't worry, we welcome you all the same, and you will get just as much coming onboard this season.

Whilst we endeavour to provide a safe community space, our discussions may take us into issues of trauma, self harm, and suicide ideation. The sessions are designed for creating awareness and understanding, but are not meant to be a substitute for direct expert assistance, particularly in situations that may require medical or therapeutic support. If you would like professional support, please refer to the resources available here.
