What does ‘home’ mean to you? Have you migrated – by choice or otherwise – and what does it mean to live away from where you grew up? Have you felt the pull of adventure and opportunity to put down new roots; have you felt the need to grab your things and leave a place? Are you familiar with dislocation, isolation, and the shock of the new? Have you navigated a newfound Otherness, or have you been Othered in new ways?
What to Expect:
- Join us at Minoa for a workshop delivered by Todd Barrowclough, a Sāmoan writer and immigrant from Aotearoa New Zealand.
- He will walk you through ways to think, read, and write about home – whatever this idea means to you.
- Drawing inspiration from writers and thinkers who have come before us, he will lead discussions about place, transit, and belonging.
- Bring something to write with and write on.
- This workshop will be delivered in English but you can write in whatever language you feel comfortable expressing yourself in.
