Designing an Inclusive Robotic Solution for Ageing Well in Place
AIDEN, an inclusive robot, empowers seniors to age in place, tackling eldercare challenges in Singapore’s ageing society. Developed by Lions Befrienders and Delta Electronics Singapore, AIDEN has been deployed for over two years in public housing, delivering meals, medications, and check-ins. Its autonomous elevator riding, contactless operation, and modular design adapt to HDB flats, ensuring minimal disruption while enhancing accessibility and dignity. By avoiding costly retrofits, it reduces environmental impact. Cross-disciplinary collaboration, blending engineering, social work, and geriatric expertise, shaped AIDEN’s empathetic design. Tested in Queenstown and Tampines, AIDEN showcases how technology and empathy create a caring, inclusive future.
