Yoga Nidra - The Blissful Relaxation

Most people sleep without resolving their tensions,

This is termed nidra.

Nidra means sleep, no matter what or why,

But Yoga Nidra means sleep after throwing off the burdens,

It is of a blissful, higher quality altogether.

When awareness is separate and distinct from the vrittis,

When waking, dream and deep sleep pass like clouds,

Yet awareness of atma (self) remains

This is the experience of total relaxation .

Relaxation does not mean sleep.

Relaxation means to be blissfully happy,

It has no end.

I call bliss absolute relaxation;

Sleep is a different matter.

Sleep gives only mind and sense relaxation.

Bliss relaxes the atma, the inner self;

That is why, in Tantra,

Yoga Nidra is the doorway to Samadhi.

In this 2-part workshop, you will be led to the visualization layer (the 4th layer or Vignanamaya kosha ). In this sheath, it is whatever you can visualize or imagine. The people who live in visualization and imagination – like artists, poets, singers and painters - live in this layer. They live a more satisfied, happy and deep life when compared to the logical people. Lawyers and accountants may have more money, but not joy or fulfillment. People who live in this layer, they live with deep satisfaction because their boundary is much bigger. The more time you spend in the visualization layer, or the 5th layer – Anandamaya kosha (bliss layer), you will feel fulfilled. The time that you spend in the deepest layer is what is going to give you the real fulfilment. Your fulfillment depends on that, not on the money which you make, or the car which you drive or the house that you live in. All those things are not going to give your fulfillment.
