For ages 11–16: explore social enterprises, visit inspiring spaces, and create a video pitch for an idea that makes a difference.
How can a business help people and the planet?
At Make The Change’s three day Young Changemaker Camp, participants will explore that question through hands on activities, visits to social enterprises, and a creative team challenge.
Campers will learn how social enterprises tackle real world issues while running sustainable businesses. They’ll practise interviewing and listening to others, explore ideas around inclusive employment and local food, then work in small teams to develop their own idea for positive change.
What participants will do?
- Day 1 — Discover and connect: Meet fellow campers, learn what makes a social enterprise different, interview a peer, and begin planning a short video pitch.
- Day 2 — Explore inclusive employment: Visit Dignity Kitchen to learn how meaningful work can create opportunities for people with disabilities and disadvantaged communities. Then develop and edit the team’s video.
- Day 3 — Explore food sustainability: Learn about urban farming through a planned visit to Edible Garden City, complete the video pitch, and share the team’s idea at a final showcase.
Along the way, participants will build communication, collaboration, storytelling, and basic video creation skills. Each team will create a short video pitch that participants can add to their portfolio.
