Celebrate SG60 this September with a one-of-a-kind school holiday camp in Singapore – where storytelling meets Minecraft!

Perfect for kids aged 8–11+, this 4-day hybrid holiday programme combines creative writing, national education, and hands-on coding. Children will write their own original 500+ word story inspired by Singapore’s rich history, myths, legends, and culture, then bring their creations to life in Minecraft Education Edition.

By joining this camp, your child will also have the chance to qualify for the BBC Earth Young Creators Minecraft Challenge 2025 – an international opportunity to showcase their talent – and receive a DSA portfolio-ready certificate highlighting 21st-century skills in creativity, digital storytelling, and tech literacy.

The Young Creators Camp SG60 blends the best of both worlds:

  • Creative Writing: Guided online sessions with experienced Singaporean coaches to plan, draft, and refine original stories rooted in Singapore’s identity.
  • Minecraft World-Building: On-campus sessions to design immersive digital worlds, complete with characters, landmarks, and interactive scenes – all using Minecraft Education Edition and Microsoft MakeCode.

This camp is for children aged 8 to 11+ years.

Is attendance for all 4 days required?

Yes, as each session builds on the last to complete the full story and Minecraft project.

Does my child need prior Minecraft or writing experience?

No. This camp is beginner-friendly and guided step-by-step by our creative writing coaches and Minecraft STEAM educators.

Is this suitable for both boys and girls?

Absolutely! Many of our past participants – boys and girls alike – enjoy the creative mix of storytelling and Minecraft building.

What will my child need to bring?

A laptop (with mouse) or iPad with Minecraft Education Edition installed; A stable internet connection for the online sessions; Big imagination and love for storytelling! (We’ll provide a Minecraft login for the camp.)

What software will be used?

We use Minecraft Education Edition - an official educational version of Minecraft. Access will be provided during the workshop.

Will my child receive a certificate?

Yes. Certificates can be included in his/her Direct School Admission (DSA) portfolio.

How does this relate to the BBC Earth competition?

This camp prepares students to participate in the BBC Earth Young Creators Minecraft Challenge 2026.

What if my child cannot attend a session?

As there are limited slots, we do not offer refunds for missed sessions. However, if your child is unwell before the camp starts, we will arrange a replacement class

The Young Creators Camp SG60 is a collaboration between Empire Code (MOE-registered coding and robotics centre in Singapore) and JSIM Education (Publisher of BBC Earth Asia Edition).
