This event is for Youth Circle Members between the ages of 12 to 18 years old.

WHAT?

Guitar Appreciation

New to guitar or haven’t played in a while? This beginner-friendly session is perfect for you!

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of guitar playing — from understanding chords and strumming patterns to playing simple songs. No prior experience is needed.

It’s also a great refresher if you’ve taken a long break and want to reconnect with the instrument.

Guitars will be provided, or you’re welcome to bring your own.

This workshop allows participants to:

Lesson 1: Introduction to Guitar & Basic Chords

Understand the parts of a guitar and proper playing posture

Learn how to tune a guitar

Practice playing basic open chords (e.g. C, G, D, Em)

Develop finger strength and chord transitions through simple exercises

Lesson 2: Strumming Patterns & Playing Your First Song

Learn common strumming patterns used in beginner songs

Combine chords and strumming into rhythm

Practice switching chords in time with a steady beat

Play a simple, well-known song using chords learned in Lesson 1
