Maurice Small - Small Farmz
Maurice Small (of Small Farmz) is a dynamic, innovative, and engaging teacher, farmer, soil alchemist, educator, and is invested in cultivating vibrant local food systems through hands-on, inspiring experiences. With over 25 years of experience growing food, Maurice leads farm-to-table events, sustainable and regenerative farming and gardening workshops, youth training programs, farm tours, and specialized vermicomposting sessions.
A recipient of the Rodale Institute’s Organic Pioneer Award, a Southern SARE board member, and a Waldorf school gardening instructor, Maurice has taught in public schools, taught college students, and currently provides services to community-based farm, garden and entrepreneurial education programs. He inspires, equips, and encourages his students through hands-on learning, curious conversations, entrepreneurial thinking and scientific exploration in the garden and on the farm. His programs are engaging, educational, and rooted in community, soil stewardship, and the transformative power of growing food.
