Edwina Van Der Westhuizen
Edwina Van Der Westhuizen is a systemic and Family Constellations facilitator, counsellor, trainer, and educator with over two decades of experience working with individuals, couples, groups, and professionals. She has been in private practice since 2003 and currently works across community, education, and private settings, including family and school-based counselling.
Her work is grounded in systemic thinking and integrates Family Constellations with trauma-informed, body-based, and nervous-system-aware approaches. Edwina specialises in working with unconscious, inherited, and relational patterns that often sit beyond words and insight. She supports people to explore how family systems, early attachment, and intergenerational experiences can shape relationships, behaviour, health, work, and life direction.
Edwina discovered Family Constellations in 2003 through the work of Bert Hellinger and has continued to deepen her practice through extensive facilitation, training, and teaching. She works with both group and individual constellations and is known for a facilitation style that is calm, respectful, and precise. Her focus is on creating safety, clarity, and conditions where meaningful movement can occur without force or overwhelm.
Alongside her facilitation work, Edwina trains therapists, counsellors, coaches, and facilitators in applying systemic principles in one-to-one and group contexts. She also lectures in counselling education, bringing a strong emphasis on embodied learning, reflexivity, and ethical practice.
Edwina’s approach recognises that change does not need to be loud or dramatic to be profound. The work often unfolds quietly through small movements, shifts in perception, and restored connection to self and system. She is deeply committed to work that honours complexity, dignity, and the intelligence of the system itself.
