The Only Animal (TOA) creates immersive work that arises from a deep engagement with place and people. Our work seeks to re/connect our human nature with Nature and forge new ways of understanding how to be on earth.
The Only Animal strives to make art in a way that is sustainable, joyful and treads lightly on the earth. We work to promote equity, diversity and inclusion in our organization, with our artists, and in cultivating our audiences.
Our primary activities are Interdisciplinary - theatre, environmental sound, textiles, fine craft, storytelling, slow practice, environmental design, community-engaged – and focus on diverse climate perspectives that address the unequal impacts of climate by using materials in an ecologically sensitive method that honors our ‘buy nothing new’ policy.
