Cartoons Underground

Cartoons Underground is SEA first and largest Independent Animation festival whose mission is to make art and animation accessible, showcasing local talents alongside international artists, whilst getting the public to meet the directors, and vote for their favourite 'audience choice' award at CU's covered Golden Durian Awards!

Over the last nine years, we have received over 4,000 film submissions from over 90 different countries, screened over 100 films, and welcomed over 5,000 attendees The mission of Cartoons Underground is to make art and animation accessible, showcasing local talents alongside international artists, whilst getting the public to meet the directors, and vote for their favourite 'audience choice' award at CU's covered Golden Durian Awards!
