Merisdy Florexile (Dy Xile)
Merisdy is a Brooklyn-based artist and poet whose work explores the intersections of language, identity, and philosophy. She launched her poetry and philosophy blog, Merisdyologyx.com, in 2012, and her writing was featured in the 2018 anthology A Suitcase of Chrysanthemums.
Her debut chapbook, Mimosas & Wafers (2021), explores first-generation identity through poetry and art. FUΔꓘ YO’ COUCH! is its revised and expanded edition. Her work delves into existence, morality, identity, and self-exploration, rooted in her experience as a Haitian American woman growing up in Brooklyn. She navigates questions of faith, cultural inheritance, and radical self-acceptance, using her creative voice to explore the tensions and truths of becoming.
She also created the UNBALENCED: Keepin' it MK Ultra KolleKtion,an art series merging creativity and advocacy, offering critical commentary on social engineering and the spiritual implications of fashion, music, media, sports, and entertainment as tools of influence, identity formation, and collective consciousness. Merisdy is a member of Freeeedom Tour: Black Gyrl Collective.
