The Asian Festival of Children's Content (AFCC) returns for its 16th edition in-person from 22 - 25 May 2025, taking on the theme of "Discovery" and celebrating South Korea as our Country of Focus.
The Asian Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC) 2025 embraces the theme of “Discovery.”
Embark on the journey to discover a universe of multicultural children’s literature. Learn about the emotional power of Asian stories; unpack the issues and topics that children’s books face today; and engage in imaginative play that awakens all the different senses. Hear from writers and practitioners as they share about developing impactful textual and visual narratives using various tools and technologies; igniting the joy and passion for reading; building literacies in a multilingual environment; as well as understanding diverse cultures through translation.

How to Develop Ideas into Books While Folding an Accordian Book

Crafting Verse Novels: A Workshop Exploring Focus, Structure and Style
Sun 25 May 2025, 2:00pm—3:30pm
This workshop, led by author Holly Thompson, offers participants an in-depth exploration of verse novels, covering the planning process, structure, style, and voice in fiction written in verse. Through discussions and exercises, participants will examine the challenges and options of verse writing, including free verse and specific poetry forms, as well as the impact of lineation, enjambment, rhythm, and figurative language. The workshop will also highlight verse novels featuring individuals from Asia and the Asian diaspora, guiding participants in developing their own manuscript approaches.
