WHAT?

Decoupage comes from the French word “decouper” which means to cut out.

Modern Day decoupage technique is sticking decorative paper napkin or rice paper cut outs on project surfaces and making it look like it has been painted on. Numerous coats of varnish are then applied to achieve a smooth finish. Nearly any household object can be use for your decoupage project. These include glass jars, used biscuit tins, tissue boxes and many more.

Whatever you decide to create you can take great pride and pleasure knowing that the items for the home, office or friends were personally handmade using very personalized items that is beyond your imagination.

Course Objective:

Using the art of decoupage, participants will work with different surfaces like wood, tin, glass, ceramic, fabric and others. Participants will also be taught on some of the surfaces how to decorate them with different paint effects. Once the surface is prepared, participants will pick their choice of decorative napkins, decoupage paper or rice paper to make it look like it is painted on the surface.

Course Outline:

Lesson 1 : Introduction to Decoupage and Decoupage on a door hanger and Decoupage on earrings and pendant

Lesson 2 : Decoupage and 2D Stencilling and Learning Lace Effect and Decoupage on Plastic Christmas Medallion with snow effect

Lesson 3 : Decoupage on Burlap Bag using decoupage paper/rice paper/whole piece napkin and Decoupage on Soap

Lesson 4 : Decoupage with Crackle Effect and Bonus Project

Course Outcome:

In this course, participants will learn decoupage skills and different paint effect techniques to create and decorate a variety of practical items that can be for personal use at home or in the office, and even as personalised gifts to friends and loves ones.

1. Dish Washing Sponge(New) x 1
2. Hairdryer x1
3. Craft scissors x 1
4. Curved scissors (those for eyebrows) x 1
5. Penknife x 1
6. Tweezer with sharp tip x 1
7. Plastic Sheet to lay table
8. Wet Tissue Paper and Dry Tissue Paper
9. Empty Container for Water for Brushes
10. Container for Glue, Paint & Varnish
11. Used Cloth for brushes
12. Plastic or Disposable Plate for Paint
13. Set of small tip brushes (Can be purchase from Daiso)

Course fee:

$280 | $56 for seniors eligible for National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidy*

*NSA subsidy is for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 50 and above.

Course fee may be offset by ^SkillsFuture Credit (SFC). First, course participants are to make payment for the course through Brahm Centre Eventbrite page, followed by claim with SFC. Brahm Centre will reimburse the amount that is successfully claim upon receipt of the funds from SFC. More details on SFC will be provided upon registration.

• There are no make-up lessons if you miss any session.

• If you miss the first session, you are allowed to proceed with the course. However, the trainer is not obligated to do a recap during the second session.

Trainer's Bio:

Angie Ong is the founder of Napkin Decoupage Shop, a studio that conducts decoupage and craft programmes for adults, children and seniors with vast experience of more than 10 years. Angie obtained her teacher’s certifications from various countries all over the world such as Thailand, Turkey and Russia.

She was featured on the first page of Straits Times in 2021 in an article during CNY “Old made Niu”.

Her passion and desire to share makes her workshops useful and fun to attend.
