Event description
We explore what Director Bong Joon-Ho is telling us about inequality

About this Event

POP CULTURE MEETUP

Parasite has dominated the Oscar awards and is the first non-English film to win Best Picture. Parasite is a riveting tale of a family’s journey to escape poverty in Korea, where there is a glaring divide between the rich and poor.

We shall explore what Director Bong Joon-Ho is telling us about inequality and what “Parasite” might mean in the context of his movie.

Look forward to an exciting discussion on the morality of capitalism and the dilemmas of “Robin Hood” ethics of stealing from the rich in favour of the poor.

[What’s in it for me?]

POP CULTURE explores the philosophical themes of movies, games, TV series. Nothing beats a hearty discussion of overpopulation moral dilemmas of Thanos or the metaphysical questions raised in Inception.

[Who are we?]

Founded earlier this year, The Philosophy of Life is a group invested in making philosophy practical, simple and fun for all Singaporeans to learn. Our area of expertise and interest is Objectivism, which emphasises reason, rational self-interest and cultivating a society based on the principle of free and fair exchange.

We are regularly participating and hosting dialogue sessions on current affairs to inspire Singaporeans to think critically about them, just like what philosophers would do.
