Description
This programme is presented by the Singapore Heritage Society.
About the film:
Rediscover the disappearing foods amongst the Cantonese/Hakka community in Singapore - its origins, how hometown foods have been adapted and localized into Singapore culture, as well as the significance and values imbued in the dish. This documentary features how these dishes were revived in four Chinese clan associations in Bukit Pasoh, Kreta Ayer and Tanjong Pagar. It is narrated in Cantonese and Mandarin with English and Chinese subtitles.
About the director/producer:
Having spent more than half her life with clan associations, Lynn Wong is passionate about uncovering and sharing the lesser-known Singapore Chinese clan heritage with youths. She is the project director of Ho Yeah Festival (the first-ever Cantonese and Hakka festival in Singapore) as well as the recipient of the inaugural Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA) Outstanding Youth Award in 2017. A self-taught filmmaker, a segment of this documentary won her the 2nd prize in the Singapore Heritage Short Film Competition 2018 open category.
